ABOUT ME
Hi, I'm Katherine

WHERE I COME FROM
I was raised in Mattoon, Illinois where my mom was a volunteer in the community and my dad a community advocate and publisher of the daily paper. I left home at 14 to persue my career as a ballerina and then followed my father's footsteps in the publishing industry. I have lived in 10 cities across the country and never in my life have I had the pleasure to meet such incredible people like I have in West Des Moines, IA.
A THRIVING CAREER
Katherine Harrington has built a career at the intersection of business leadership, community development, and civic engagement. She moved to WDM 21 years ago and landed a career with DSM Magazine and The Des Moines Business Record. She was in sales and leadership with that organization, and her last role was Director of Innovation.
As current President and CEO of the West Des Moines Chamber of Commerce and President of the Chamber Foundation, she leads initiatives that strengthen the workforce, support entrepreneurs, and reinvest in the community. Under her leadership, the Chamber has launched innovative programs, expanded business advocacy, and built powerful partnerships with schools, nonprofits, and major employers across the region.
With a background in media, entrepreneurship, and executive leadership, Katherine brings strategic vision and a results-driven mindset to every role she serves. She is widely known as a collaborative connector who turns bold ideas into meaningful, measurable community impact.
